Cold Sore-Tongue Treatment and Cures

The tiny red blisters with clear fluids are not only annoying but are also extremely painful. Moreover, if kept untreated in its initial stage, the cold sore in your mouth and lips can last up to two weeks or more. The following are some effective cold sore cures:
- Though there is no cold sore medicine that can cure it permanently, you can use the counter creams and antibiotics to reduce the pain and frequency of the outbreak. Consult with your doctor as you feel the very first symptom of itching and burning.
- Avoid certain foods and spices like citrus, salt, spices and caffeine. Apart from increasing your irritation, some of these foodstuffs also help to activate the herpes virus.
- Wash the blisters with medicated lukewarm water or with saline solutions at least once or twice daily. Then gently pat the area with clean and soft towel until it is dry. This cold sore medication will help you to keep the affected area clean and free from germs.
- Applying ice and tea bags for 30 minutes on a regular basis is also an inexpensive as well as effective home remedy for cold sores. Try to repeat the process at least 4 times in a day.
Using tropical preparations such as topical benzyl alcohol and lidocaine are also beneficial as they help to ease the symptoms of lip sore in the earlier stage.
